One thousand guests attended the 2010 Visionary Ball at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on October 14th. The event was a great success that raised $2,097,000 million to benefit research and education at UCLA Neurosurgery.
The honorary co-chairs were Tony Pritzker, managing partner of The Pritzker Group, and Dr. A. Eugene Washington, vice chancellor of the UCLA Health Sciences and dean of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Edie Baskin Bronson and Jill Grey served as event co-chairs. The annual ball enables UCLA Neurosurgery to establish dedicated seed grants and engage highly distinguished faculty of surgeons and scientists to make significant innovations in neurosurgical patient care, research, and education.
The event, emceed by Mario Lopez, host of the popular daily nationally syndicated show Extra.
The program began with an opening of UCLA Chorus, followed by a welcome message from Dr. Neil A. Martin, W. Eugene Stern Chair and Professor of UCLA Neurosurgery, and a premiere of 3-D film, Experience UCLA Neurosurgery featuring the tremendous advancements in neurosurgical research and education.

Another highlight of the celebratory evening was filled with series of touching patient testimonials of Blake Cline, Deanna Brady, Tristan Gunson, Ron Scanlon, Amy Brosnan and James Brosnan . The evening concluded with a musical performance by Steve Tyrell and a special guest, Herb Alpert.
